Room 317 [after classes]

After an interesting conversation with his father early in the morning, Luke had gone for a long run.

And then an even longer session alone with the punching bag.

And then he'd tried some meditation.

Now? He'd spread parts to a small droid out all over the floor, back carefully turned away from the half of the room that was supposed to have a Z in it, and fiddled around with electronics.

Loud Corellian rock was blaring from his stereo and out through the open door.

If you asked him? He was fine.

"Of course it is, and no one said differently," she said, using what she hoped was a soothing tone. No point in spooking the Skywalker. "Um, congratulations! To who?"

"You were acting like she showed you," Gavin teased. "Hey, maybe she will. Show you. Because seeing the tattoo on the girl who looks like a relative of yours won't be weird at all. And then maybe she'll hug you and oh, maybe a kiss on the cheek too!'

"It's difficult being a guy, a friend, and the evil, hated boyfriend," John shrugged. "But I do my best."

"The hated boyfriend's more my father's thing," Luke said. "As long as she's happy, I'm happy. And if she's not, she is more than capable of kicking your ass herself."

"My parents thought it would be a nice change," Alex shrugged, grimacing ever so slightly. "At first I was totally against it, but I've come to like it."

"And then I can be in therapy for the rest of my life!"

"So you didn't run into the taller version of your niece or a guy who's supposed to be nine years old, huh?" Luke said, smiling. "This place can sneak up with the trauma sometimes."

"Rory," Luke said, "and I'm happy for them. I am."

And he'd keep repeating that as often as necessary.

"And that'd be funny for me!" Gavin said, patting Luke's shoulder.

"Not yet, no," Alex shook her head, chuckling a bit. "I'll let you know if that happens," she winked. "Yeah, so I've heard. I'm waiting for it to happen to me."

"And here I liked being hated," John teased. "Oh well, I guess I'll have to make do with having my ass kicked by a girl. Though hopefully only in the good way." Luke was dating Jo, he had to get that.

Cool. "Uh huh. I mean, why wouldn't you be, right?"

Luke shot him a grin that let him know that he totally got that. "I've never understood the appeal of the really quiet type, I have to admit."

"I would send you very angry finger paintings from my padded room," Luke threatened.

"You haven't been here a week yet. Wait until the first gremlin bite," he advised. "Then you'll see some fun."

Pause.

"As long as it's not to me."

"Exactly," Luke said. "It's not like I ever knew my mother even though one of the new students is now wandering around with her face but without the weird hair and I'm three months older than my soon-to-be stepmom, but that's all normal for here and it's stupid of me to think that it's not."

Of course Jaina ended up here after the visit to Anakin's office hours, and figuring he'd sense her sooner or later, she kind of stood there with a "Seriously?" look on her face.

"Oooh, I'm so scared," Gavin said and wiggled his fingers at Luke.

"Okay, whoa." Dawn held her hands up, not positive he wasn't going to explode. "Back up. Someone's here who looks like your mom? And no, that's not normal, and it's okay to be one with the wiggy. Just...breathe, okay?"

"Okay, though I hope it won't be me," she winked. "I've heard some stories, yeah. I imagine I will."

Alex grinned.

"Have you been bitten before?"

Rikku leaned in, her one eyebrow raised.

"Bad day?" she shouted. Not even sure if she was loud enough to be heard over that din.

Jo knocked on the side of the doorframe. "Hey," she called out over the music.

Over in the corner, Artoo let out an electronic snicker.

"A couple of times," Luke admitted, blushing.
