Room 317 [after classes]

After an interesting conversation with his father early in the morning, Luke had gone for a long run.

And then an even longer session alone with the punching bag.

And then he'd tried some meditation.

Now? He'd spread parts to a small droid out all over the floor, back carefully turned away from the half of the room that was supposed to have a Z in it, and fiddled around with electronics.

Loud Corellian rock was blaring from his stereo and out through the open door.

If you asked him? He was fine.

John hadn't talked to Luke in a while, so he stopped by to see if he'd met any of the new and interesting looking people.

"Is that supposed to be music?" he asked, leaning against the door frame.

Luke wrinkled his nose up at him. "It's Corellian rock. Jaina's father would be appalled to hear your slander."

"Maybe it grows on you or something," John offered, not really thinking it would. "How's it going?"

"If you're dancing in there, warn me now so I don't scar my eyes," Gavin shouted before coming through the door.

"Fine," Luke said, smiling. "How have you been? Have you met anyone interesting?"

His eyes might have been twinkling just a little bit.

Luke burst out giggling laughing. "No dancing," he promised. "There are too many little pieces on the floor."

"Hmm. I take it you heard about my encounter with the newbie?" John replied. "It really wasn't my fault."

"I met her the next day," Luke admitted, "when I really should've known better."

"Good," Gavin said and wandered into the room, still cautious in case of surprise dancing. "Taking something apart?"

"It was kinda unexpected, but she was pretty nice about the mistake," he said. "Of course, Jaina was a little unhappy, but that's only natural, right?"

Possibly this might not have been the best time for Michael to wander down to visit. Or there again, maybe it was.

Luke nodded. "Though I've never made the mistake with Meg and Jo," he pointed out a little smugly.

Luke nodded. "Just messing around," he said. "I don't have class today."

Luke gave him a bright smile. "Hi, Michael! Did you have any classes today?"

He waved his hand towards the tiny parts all over the floor. "Sorry about the mess."

"You have the Force on your side, don't you?" John replied.

"...maybe," Luke admitted. "Come in, sit down, ignore the mess."

"Yeah, Criminal Justice and Mythology - oh, hey, no problem." He picked his way into the room, careful not to step on anything that might be important. "Making improvements?"

"I see how you and Jaina are related," John commented, noting the part-like things on the floor as he took a seat.

"Me either," Gavin said. "What're you taking apart?"

Luke grinned. "You thought we might have been making it up?" he teased.

Luke stared down at the parts. "I don't really remember," he confessed. "But I think I can make it fly."

"I had my doubts," John replied. "She seems a lot saner than your dad."

"Kind of?" Luke said. "I'm just kind of playing around. I wanted something to do with my hands."

He put the two pieces of metal he'd been focusing on down. "I took Criminal Justice last year with this weird guy who wore a mask."

"You don't remember?" Gavin frowned at the mess. "What if it was something you needed?"

"Sounds like it's the same guy this year. How'd you find it then?"
