Oh So Sekrit Rebel Outpost [Wednesday]

Fresh from his mission to Hanoon (and really, getting instructions from random dead Jedi Masters was never going to be less strange), Luke took a very long shower and decided to check his email.

It had, after all, been a few months. He hoped it wasn't all spam and fanmail based on that stupid holothriller about the battle of Mindor.

"I can't wait to hear about them," Luke replied. "So how did it end? Tell me no one built another Death Star."

"No," she said with a little laugh, trying to find a nice, succinct way to put this. "I was about to get sacrificed by the Supreme Overlord for taking on the role of a goddess he was beyond mad at, and Jacen killed him. No one there to oversee the war then," she explained. Though when Nom Anor defected to the Alliance side, the war was essentially over anyway.

"Well, add me to the list of those grateful you didn't get sacrificed," Luke said, sounding serious.

"It wasn't so bad." It kind of had been. "I know some things to work on so that sort of thing doesn't happen again and believe me, I will be working on them."

"Not turning into a goddess again on that list?" Luke teased. "You know how people get about their religions."

"I'd do it over again," she clarified. Like Jacen had said, things had had to happen a certain way. Onimi started losing it about the time Jaina made herself public like she had, and so someone had spent half a war trying to kill her specifically. It helped end the war. "But I don't think I will be doing it in the future. Though I really hope there's not a reason to ever impersonate a goddess again."

"Why did you do it to start with?" Luke asked, sounding interested.

"It was a good little bit of psychological warfare to use against them and throw them off their game, with a bonus of putting myself in a better position to fight. They were the ones who began associating me with that goddess, I just used it to my advantage," she explained.

"So they were going to sacrifice you because they thought you were the goddess, or because they were angry you were pretending to be her?" Luke replied.

"First thing. He blamed Yun-Harla for everything bad that had ever happened to him, basically. And then I came in making a show of myself and I was still throwing tricks at them and they couldn't get me, he really believed I was her," she said. "He wasn't exactly the most stable."

"Wooooow," Luke said slowly. "You'd think killing a goddess would only increase the number of problems he'd have."

"In reality, it probably would have. But he thought he was just getting one up on the gods. This one specifically," she said. "He was just so determined, and I'm not sorry that ended up being his downfall."

"Crazy is seldom a good look on people," Luke replied. "I'm glad your war is over."

"Me too. And I hope your mop up action gets to stop soon." Even though she was fairly sure it had gone on for a whiiile in her time.

Luke laughed. "We don't even have Coruscant yet," he said. "I think the mopping up is going to last longer than the Rebellion itself. What's little Leia like?"

"A little different than I would have expected," Jaina admitted. "She's a little rebel, apparently doesn't think she's a proper princess, and every once in a while she'll sound like me, which is weird. But it's still very much Mom."

"And dates inappropriate guys," Luke added. "Well, Han has some rough edges, too. I just never thought it was a type."

"Yeah, it makes a little more sense now," she said. "Though my dad wouldn't even bother to wipe the floor with these guys." No, Han'd probably just shoot them and leave someone else to clean up the mess. Her dad was awesome.

Luke had a mental image of Han meeting Chuck Bass and snickered. "Be a little like Mos Eisley all over again, huh?"

"I'll assume so." Han probably didn't walk around the house claiming how he shot first or anything, after all. "Are you in a rush to get back here, knowing she's here now?"

"Well, it's Leia, so of course I'd love to meet her," Luke said. "Would she know who I am?"

"No. At least, not that I know of. She knows you exist, but nothing more than that. I got the okay to give her your name without an argument, but I haven't seen her to do so. Long story," she said, knowing that had to sound weird. "So you might want to put off visiting till that conversation happens."

"Oh, absolutely," Luke said. "When I was sixteen, I was watching Biggs read through academy material and wanting to be anywhere but where I was. Things changed in a few years."

Luke had a gift for understatement.

Jaina smiled at that. "I think the hardest part will be convincing her not to go looking for you, but she's not dumb. I trust her there," she explained.

And part of her was really curious. "Do you ever wish you could go back to when things were simple and easy?"

"No," Luke said after a bit of a pause. "If I'd been home when the Stormtroopers came looking for Artoo and Threepio, I'd've met the same fate as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, and your mom would've died on the Death Star. This is where I'm supposed to be, what I'm supposed to be doing."
