Room 317 [after classes]

After an interesting conversation with his father early in the morning, Luke had gone for a long run.

And then an even longer session alone with the punching bag.

And then he'd tried some meditation.

Now? He'd spread parts to a small droid out all over the floor, back carefully turned away from the half of the room that was supposed to have a Z in it, and fiddled around with electronics.

Loud Corellian rock was blaring from his stereo and out through the open door.

If you asked him? He was fine.

"Kind of?" Luke said. "I'm just kind of playing around. I wanted something to do with my hands."

He put the two pieces of metal he'd been focusing on down. "I took Criminal Justice last year with this weird guy who wore a mask."

"Sounds like it's the same guy this year. How'd you find it then?"

"Strange, but I learned a lot," Luke said. "But that goes for every class I took here but shop."

Michael laughed. "The strange part, or the learning a lot?"

"Both?" Luke said. "But more towards the strange than the learning some days." He shrugged. "I wasn't big on school back home. Here they actually teach useful things."

"Yeah, I... pretty much didn't go to school back home", he admitted. "Only enough so I wouldn't flunk out."

"I studied to get good enough scores to get into the military academy, but only because I was so desperate to get off of that rock," Luke replied.

"Yeah?" Michael asked curiously. "So how'd you wind up here?"

"It's kind of a long story," Luke said, "but it ended up with me blowing up this planet-destroying moon-sized weapon and being sent here by the rebel group I was a part of to, um, not get killed once the government figured out who did it."

"...yeah, that'd do it. I think that wins for making trouble."

Luke grinned. "That wasn't entirely the intention, but winning is always good."

"So, when you're done with the destructor-protection high school, what've you got in mind for next?"

"Restarting a religion?" Luke said, blushing.

"...wow, you really don't believe in thinking small, do you?"

"Not really," Luke admitted. "It's something of a family tradition."

Michael grinned crookedly.

"One of those things you've got to live up to, then?"

"My father fulfilled prophecy, my mother was elected queen at 13, my twin sister is basically starting up a government from scratch and my niece from a different time line was the youngest pilot ever admitted to the most elite squadron in our galaxy." He grinned back. "I have some fairly huge shoes to fill."

"...man, you're making me glad all I've got is Max and Isabel. Talk about your pressure."

Luke smiled. "Makes me want to tell them I just want to run a miniature golf course to see their heads explode."

"But does it make you actually want to just run a miniature golf course?"

"Not really," Luke admitted. "It'd be kind of a waste of what I've been given, right?"

"Well, I guess. But if it made you happy..."

"Restarting the Jedi will make me happier," Luke replied. "Maybe I can play miniature golf in my spare time."

"...you're going to restart a religion and you're expecting to have spare time? Dream on, buddy."

"I'll have to spend some time hiding, too," he said with a grin. "It's why I'm taking a class on being sneaky this semester."
