After spending three days being electrocuted (annoying) and getting a wall dropped on him (more annoying), Luke had wanted nothing more than to go home.

So after whining at convincing Katara to let him out of the clinic, he was now sprawled carefully on his bed, trying not to lay on anything that was too bruised (lost cause) and trying to convince Artoo to show him a decent holodrama.

Artoo was insisting that "Tiger!" was a decent holodrama.

There had been too many mochaccinos to ward off the coming sugar crash, which meant she was still hyper from mochaccinos. She didn't have this system down yet, dammit. Oh! Hey! Luke! She hadn't pestered Luke in ages!

"It's open, Rikku," he replied.

She giggled, opening the door and peering around it. "I was gonna ask if my knock was all special, and then I remembered the Jedi thing." Blink. "Uh. You ... okay?"

Luke waved a hand breezily. "No big deal. There was a wall that fell."

Luke's definition of "no big deal" wasn't other people's.

"A ... wall fell?" Rikku's eyes widened. "On ... you!?"

"Well, technically it was thrown, but yeah," Luke said, nodding.

Rikku gasped. "Dude!" And flailed. "Dude, that's ... are you okay? I have potion stuff and you need to go to the clinic and ... dude!"

Luke gave her a look. "My father already made me go to the clinic, and he says this is a good chance to work on my healing technique."

"That's not very nice of him!" Flail. "The healing technique, I mean, not the clinic part. Do you want potions? I know, it's cheating, but I don't care, I have them. Uh. How did someone throw a wall at you and where can I find them so I can hurt them?"

Luke shook his head. "I need the practice," he insisted. "When I go home it'll just be me."

He paused for a second, considering. "He's probably learned his lesson," Luke decided. "He certainly won't be throwing another wall at me."

"Just be you?" Rikku asked. "Oh, that's right, you ... you graduate soon." She fidgeted, not liking to think about him leaving.

"I don't care if he has," she said, eyes narrowing. "Did he have walls thrown at him? ... Wait. Does your dad know who did this?"

Because, all things considered, going after a bloody smudge on the ground was pretty pointless.

"Yes," Luke said. "The guy managed to capture all the Jedi, at least for a little while. My father...wasn't pleased."

Beat.

"But not in an actively evil way," he added.

"No," she said, shaking her head. "It doesn't take evil to wipe out someone that messes with your family. That's just ... I mean, that's family, right?"

Luke nodded. "My father will be watching him. That's probably the worst punishment ever. He doesn't give second chances."

Blink. "Your dad ... didn't kill him?"

"He'd been electrocuted pretty good," Luke said, "and the other Jedi...kind of stopped him."

He shrugged. "I imagine. I can still feel his presence, so he hasn't been killed, but I was kind of out cold at the time."

Rikku flinched. "Luke. That's so ... but how do you know he's gonna ... I mean ..." She bit her lip. "I think I would've been on your dad's side. If he's powerful enough that he grabbed all of you to start with, then ... what happens next time? I don't ..."

Luke snorted. "If he tests my father's patience, he deserves all of the little bits he's going to be chopped into." He ran a hand through his hair. "He'd come up with this bizarre device trying to siphon the Force off like it was ship fuel or something. It didn't work."

"The Force?" She blinked. "I thought the Force was just ..." She waved a hand a little, trying to remember how Luke's father had explained it. "Energy, around us, and some people know how to channel it. It's just there, like air or whatever, yeah?"

"He tried to bottle it," Luke said with a shrug. "It worked. Sort of. For a little bit. Jaina took the machine apart with a lightsaber."

"Weird." Rikku blinked. "Did that ... hurt? I mean, him taking it ... out of you?"

"It was like going blind," Luke admitted. "It's not something I'd repeat."

Rikku shuddered, then got up and moved to sit down next to him. "Sounds awful," she said softly. "I mean. To just be without something that's ... that much a part of you."

Luke shrugged again, clearly not wanting to talk about it. "It came back."

Rikku reached over for a squeezy hug. "You bet," she nodded. "And so did you."
