Luke was packing up a travel bag and smiling over at his comlink periodically. Wedge had written--rumor had gotten around about Luke coming back for a visit--and asked if he wanted to be included in an operation the Rogues were heading out on in the next few days.

Seeing Leia and getting to fly in an X-Wing. Luke saw no bad here.

Luke's face lit up. "Hey! I hoped I'd see you."

"You did?" Jo beamed at him. "Lucky me then."

"I'd say lucky me," Luke said, leaning in for a kiss. "It'd be a long few days without seeing you."

"I'll be thinking about you," Jo said softly. "So you'd better keep out of trouble."

"That's the plan," Luke said. "A couple days with Leia and a quick mission with Wedge and the Rogues to some planet called Hoth. Should be a piece of ryshcate. Want me to bring you anything back?"

"Apart from yourself?" Jo thought about it for a moment. "Something you'd think I'd like. I trust your taste."

Luke smiled. "There'll be lots of weapons around. I'll see if I can find one you'd like." He gave her a hug. "And I'll be careful."

"Because you really don't want me coming after you if you're not," Jo agreed, returning the hug.

"You wouldn't want to come, would you?" Luke asked. "There's always work for another set of hands."

Jo's grin got wider. "That an invitation?"

"Plenty of room in the shuttle," Luke replied, grinning back. "And you can protect me when I tell Leia the wedding's been moved up three years."

"Oh yeah, you'll definitely need me there for that," Jo agreed. "Plus this way I can pump people for stories about you."

Luke blushed. "People exaggerate," he mumbled.

Jo kissed his cheek. "I'm sure they do."

"And you'll get to meet a Han who's not Jaina's and all old," Luke said, beginning to get excited about this. "Just don't mention their future children, okay?"

"I won't break you friends. Promise."

He leaned in and kissed her. "Then go pack a bag."

Jo smiled into the kiss. "I'll be back before you know it."

"So, you're going home?" Z observed.

"Just for a few days," Luke replied. "I haven't seen Leia in way too long."

"I might not be here when you get back," Z warned him. "I think Cruger has some sort of training thing in line for us."

"But it's not a permanent thing, right?" Luke asked worriedly.

"No," Z assured him. "We'll be back. I'm not even sure what the plan is, actually. Say hello to your sister who I still have yet to meet for me."

"I'll see if she wants to come for graduation," Luke said with a smile.

He paused. "Though she might not, now that our father's moved the wedding up to that next weekend..."

"Wait," said Z. "What? Your dad's getting married? At graduation? What?"

"The week after," Luke said, "to Rory. I get to officiate. It kinda happened just this week. Um, the date. He got engaged in January."

He pressed his lips together. "Leia's...not particularly pleased."

"Wow," said Z. "Not a lot of time to plan a wedding, is it?" She tilted her head thoughtfully. "I guess I can see where she's coming from. I mean, with the whole. Thing. You're okay with it?"

"It took me a bit, but it makes them both happy, so I don't see how it's really my place to be a baby about it," Luke said.

Leia would love that characterization. Really.

"...maybe don't tell your sister that," Z suggested. She liked her roommate mostly in one piece.

He laughed. "Yeah, that would be a bad idea, especially when there's not a galaxy between us to save me."
