Luke was putting the last of his belongings into bags and boxes and trying not to be too upset about leaving Fandom forever tomorrow morning.

Outside his alcove, Artoo was selling copies of Fandom's Greatest Humiliations over the last two years for what he felt was a very reasonable price.

Whenever the melancholy threatened to overwhelm Luke, he'd look over at the little droid who'd begin to whistle "Doe, a Deer."

Artoo wasn't big on feeling sorry for yourself.

"Just don't get us mixed up," Luke said, trying to keep his voice light. "I'm the better looking one."

Jaina crossed her fingers. "So where are you off to?"

"Back to Endor, apparently," Luke said. "Those were the coordinates Leia sent me yesterday."

"Making friends with more Ewoks?" she said with a little smile.

"I'll settle for not being thought of as dinner," Luke replied.

He was quiet for a moment. "I'm going to miss you," he admitted softly.

"See if you say that when you start training your version of me," Jaina said, smile widening. "I'm going to miss you too."

"I hope my version of you turns as well as you," Luke said softly.

"I'd make a few small changes," Jaina said, "but she's in good hands. And if anything turns out wrong... It's not my fault."

"You're your father's daughter," Luke said, reaching out to tap her on the nose.

"I get that a lot," she admitted. "It really won't be the same without you around. And without Artoo recording everything."

"The school will breathe a sigh of relief, I imagine," Luke said with a wry smile.

"Remind him that any recordings he has of me are creepy and he should get rid of them as soon as possible," she said, a pleading tone to her voice.

Ignore that she had a few recordings of Luke's more embarrassing moments. This was totally different. Honestly.

"I will, but I saw Wes Janson talking to him when I was home at break," Luke said. "Force only knows what he promised."

Jaina's brain shut down for a moment as she realized what that could mean. "Good thing I've never had any aspirations to run for public office."

"That's probably for the best," Luke agreed, making a face.

Who knew, maybe that would work out better for Leia jobwise, too. That was one of those things Jaina would have changed.

"And you know I was serious, I will be keeping in contact," she said. "I expect you to do the same."

Luke nodded. "I will," he said. "You'll get to hear me making all of the same mistakes."

"I didn't get to hear them the first time," she said wryly, and shrugged. "You didn't do so bad for yourself by my time."

"That's amazingly reassuring," he said, moving in to hug her.

"You'll be fine," Jaina said, hugging him back.

And there was so much she could tell him, warn him about the dark side, the Vong, about the things she knew would be coming, but there was no way to know how badly that would change things. Tempted as she was, that was all his to figure out for himself.

"And you better shoot straight and keep coming home, you hear me?" he murmured, holding on tightly.

"Won't be a problem," she promised, turning to kiss his cheek.

"And if Dad starts acting strangely," he whispered, trusting Jaina to fill in the details.

"I know," she assured him, nodding.

Luke leaned in to kiss her forehead. "The Force will be with you, Jaina," he said, blinking back tears.
