Luke sat as his desk staring at the holoprojection of Mindor, then down at the battle plan Lando had left for him.

He sighed and scrubbed his fingers through his hair. "This is going to get messy," he said to the empty room.

"Hey, there's a few Jedi here that know me," he pointed out. "Just means I gotta wait till my timeline gets there. Then, I can be a tattletale."

"Oh, by then they'll all be working for me," Luke teased, "and I'll have enough pull to get you exiled to Tatooine forever for mocking me."

"You do that and I won't use any pull I have to get you access to the Grand Canyon."

Gavin had no pull there but Luke didn't need to know that.

"Since when do you have pull?" Luke asked, tone still light and teasing.

Most of the people on the base would have no idea Luke's voice could do that.

"I am a charming man," Gavin said, shaking his head. "So little faith, Luke! I could do it."

"So charm me," Luke replied.

"I don't wanna," he said, snickering. "I'm out of charm for the day."

"That's so sad," Luke said sympathetically. "Now you'll strike out at the cantina tonight."

"No, that's your deal, old man," Gavin said. "You're the failure with the ladies."

Luke snorted. "I'm a hero of the rebellion. I have women of all species throwing themselves at me."

And wow did Luke not know what to do with that.

"Just don't get any of them pregnant," Gavin said and made a face. That was a phone call that was still haunting him.

There was a stunned pause from Luke's end of the line.

"...personal experience?" he finally asked cautiously.

"No!" Gavin said quickly. "No. I just watch a lot of television when I've got some downtime."

"Good," Luke said. "Not that you won't be a good dad in thirty or forty years but..."

"For decades, if I'm on track with Ben's Luke," he replied.
