After his workshop with Mr. Winchester, Luke came back to his room to convince Artoo that Leia had gone home.

Artoo, still in the closet, remained unconvinced.

"I wouldn't lie to you about this," Luke told the door, rolling his eyes. "She came, she saw him, she had ice cream, she went home. Really."

Artoo let out a mournful whistle.

"Fine," Luke said, flouncing back to his bed. "I'll be over here, practicing levitation with Yoda who's a turtle again, thank the Force."

Yoda? Not thrilled by getting spun through the air again, but he couldn't talk any more, so no one cared.

The door was cracked open.

"That's when you came up," Luke said, grinning. "She laughed for about an hour. Fortunately, Artoo was too scared to come out of the closet and show her video footage."

Luke went pale. "No!"

In the closet, Artoo blatted out an electronic giggle.

"I've had about enough from you!" Luke called towards him.

"Has he been in there all weekend?" Gavin asked.

"He's been in there since last Tuesday," Luke said, rolling his eyes. "Threepio's not that big a drama queen."

That got him and outraged squeal.

"Did I hear the radio right?" Luke said, eager for a subject change. "You and Inara?"

"You should be laughing at him," Gavin said, nodding to the closet. "He's scared of a girl."

And then he blushed.

"Oh, uh. What did the radio say?"

Artoo sat there in sulky silence.

Luke ignored him.

"That you were trying to translate the 'hey, baby, let's go check out Begger's Canyon' into a flight simulator date," Luke teased.

Gavin stared. "What?!"

"Okay, maybe I'm loosely translating," Luke grinned.

"I was teaching her how to fly," Gavin said. "We didn't do anything in the flight sim!"

"Good," Luke said. "My father would kick your ass." He smiled again. "I wouldn't blame you for trying, though. Inara's pretty great."

"Yeah," Gavin said and grinned stupidly.

Luke grinned over at him. "Are you going to do anything about it?" he asked. "Because I'm full up on useless pining in my life."

"I told her I liked her," Gavin said. "That's good, right?"

"Depends," Luke said. "Did she run away afterwards?"

"No," Gavin said quickly. "No, she stayed."

Luke grinned again. "I've been told that's a good sign."

"I won her a pink stuffed fuzzy thing," Gavin said. "At the festival thing on Friday."

"I love stuffed things!" Luke frowned. "I don't know where that came from..."

"Well now we'll never go steady," Luke told him with a snicker. "I only put out for presents."

Luke snagged the last cookie and stuck his tongue out at Gavin. "Whatever, angel."
