Luke wouldn't say that he had been spending the entire weekend hiding in his room, but he'd pretty much spent the entire weekend hiding in his room.

He'd call it "processing."

It looked a lot like brooding.

Yoda was in his tank doing the supportive pet thing. Or sleeping. It was kind of hard to tell.

"Uh huh," Luke said, not entirely convinced. He leaned against the door jamb. "Ever rescue a princess?"

"Not yet," Joxer said, shaking his head. "I was tracking a giant last weekend, which had kidnapped a really good friend who's nice enough to be a princess, but that's not quite the same thing."

"Not exactly," Luke agreed. "So what have you done that's been heroic? Taken on vampires? Mummies? Jello dragons?"

"Jello dragons and tentacle demons, so far," Joxer said. "And I beat Walter Dornez sparring, which very few can say they've done that."

"I don't know who that is," Luke said. He paused. "I don't know who you are either, though, so I guess that kind of makes sense. I'm Luke."

He frowned. "Not Agnes."

"Sorry about that," Joxer said. He stuck out his hand in offer of a handshake. "I'm Joxer. Some call me Joxer the Mighty, but you seem nice enough that it's totally okay for you to just call me Joxer."

"I'm Luke," he replied. "Skywalker. Everyone calls me Luke."

"Nice to meet you, Luke," Joxer said. "You ever do any princess saving?" He chuckled.

"Last week," Luke said, nodding. "Then I blew up a battle station."

"Wow!" Joxer said, way too excited. "Was the princess pretty? How big was the explosion?"

"Yes, very, and the explosion was huge," Luke said, smiling. "Small moon huge."

"Wow," Joxer said. "If I had my sword, I'd pledge it to you right now. I. . . teach me?"

"If I had any idea what I did, I'd certainly show you," Luke said. "But it was a lot of luck."

In the back of his head, he could hear Ben's voice scolding him. He ignored it.

"Still, wow," Joxer said. He snapped his fingers and grinned. "If there's another invasion? I'd be honored to fight by your side."

"I'll keep it in mind," Luke promised. "What do you fight with?"

"Broadsword, mainly," Joxer said. "I'm also skilled with the dagger, the crossbow, and my deadly bare hands."

Luke blinked. "Seriously? You still use metal weapons around here?"

"Oh, ummm," Joxer rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm from over two thousand years in the past, actually."

Joxer bit his lower lip. "Is that a problem?"

"I'm from an entirely different galaxy," Luke said. "I don't judge."

"Great," Joxer said. "And if you ever want a sparring buddy or anything, I'm completely available. We heroes have to stick together."

Luke smiled. "I'll remember," he said. "It was nice to meet you, Joxer."

"Nice to meet you too," Joxer said. He waved and headed on his way back to his own room.
