After a few hours poking around on the X-Wing with Artoo and a quick check to see if Leia had written--she had, and there was still no sign of Han--Luke flung himself onto his bed and began to practice with the Force.

Yoda was not excited to be one of the things chosen to be juggled.

Seeing Luke distracted, Artoo made his way stealthily towards the door.

"Don't even think about it," Luke said sternly. "Last time you got out, you came back covered in cake."

Artoo whistled innocently. "No," Luke replied.

Artoo made sulky noises and rolled back towards the corner.

Luke nodded, still looking a bit embarrassed. "Oh, speaking of gifts...Vader didn't happen to have a large silver rock in his office that looked like Han, right?"

Rory shook her head. "What would he have done with it?"

"Conversation piece?" Luke replied. He sighed. "I have no idea. Leia said there's still no sign of him."

"He'll turn up. Unless you think he brought it with him to Fandom, in which case I say we search...wherever it is he lives," Rory said.

"He lives at 33 Apocalypse," Luke said. He made a face. "I discovered that trick-or-treating."

"Ew," said Rory. "I think Professor Cale and Professor Next live there. And Dean Tick. Why does he live with people who would strongly look down on me breaking into their house?"

Luke pouted. "Think we could sneak past them anyway?"

Rory bit her lip, and eyed Artoo. "We could, if we sent scouts...."

Artoo tootled an inquiry. "Who else were you thinking of?" Luke asked.

"Well, I have this very helpful little guy who, um, flies," Rory said thoughtfully.

Luke raised an eyebrow. "You mean Vladdie?"

"He's very helpful," she insisted. "Though, um, I would worry about him getting staked if Anakin caught them. What would happen to Artoo?"

"He'd get fried," Luke said, pursing his lips. "But he can recover. He got shot on the Death Star run."

"Poor baby!" Rory cooed, petting Artoo's dome again. "I think everyone would be okay considering who else lives there. I mean, if we get caught...it's a detention, isn't it? I can deal with that. I'm getting into college either way, probably."

"You're getting into college," Luke assured her. "And we're both too valuable to him to kill. Right?"

"He's not allowed to kill us regardless of who we are, and the dean of students lives in his house," Rory said.

"Then let's look for Han," Luke decided.

"You're sure?" she asked, smiling a little.

Luke nodded. "It will make Leia feel better."

"How is she, aside from the Han stuff?" she asked softly.

"Not great," Luke admitted. "But she's too dedicated to the Rebellion to let this distract her for long. They need her."

"Good girl," she said admiringly. "When this is all over, I'd like to take her out for coffee and have our hair done together."

Luke laughed softly. "I'll be sure to tell her."

"And meanwhile, you and Anakin can be playing catch like a normal, non-evil father and son," she added softly.

Luke stared out into the distance. "It will be so...strange."
